About

I work with adults who want individual therapy

People come to see me because they are struggling with something in their lives or an aspect of themselves. They’re often feeling overburdened, fearful, or stuck, and are understandably looking for support to shift this.

I use a mix of therapeutic approaches

I tailor my therapy to each client by drawing upon several therapeutic approaches.

First and foremost, I see the therapeutic relationship – the connection and interaction that a client and I have in the room – as an essential tool in facilitating change and healing. To this end I draw on a type of therapy called Relational Psychotherapy.

I’m experienced using Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) having run CBT-based groups including the internationally renowned Cool Kids Program as well as groups for adults with social anxiety. My approach continues to include CBT strategies.

I like using Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) too because it neatly packages things I have found useful in my own life, such as mindfulness, meditation, and accepting what is.

I have also trained and run groups in Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), and I continue to draw on elements of this approach.

Finally, my approach is also psychodynamic, that is, I’m interested in helping people find patterns in their emotions, thoughts, behaviours, and beliefs, which keep influencing their current self. To assist with this I sometimes use Schema Therapy.

What does this all mean for you?

In a typical session, we will talk about what’s happening for you. I’ll give you ideas and strategies when needed. From a place of connection, trust, and safety, we’ll work together to make changes in your life.
